These are the first images of a brand new £45m village called King’s Park to be built within Scartho. Initial work is already ongoing on the redundant site off Forsythia Drive and Matthew Telford Park next to Grimsby’s Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital. King’s Park will bring together generations in a new village-style development with 76 homes – mainly bungalows – being built on the land south of the hospital. There will also be detached and semi-detached homes. Full planning permission has already been granted for the homes, but now Developer E5 has announced planes for additional facilities, including a convenience store, cafe and pharmacy or opticians. A spokesman said the company wanted King’s Park to address local housing need, with future phases of the scheme including homes for over-55s and those which support the requirements of the hospital and the nearby community. The homes are part of a wider £45m development off Forsythia Drive, which also has outline planning permission for a ‘step down’ care unit next to the hospital to support patients leaving the wards but who require on-going nursing care before returning home.
