October is officially the spookiest month, and at GameRevolution we wanted to celebrate that fact by hosting our first-ever Halloween Horror Game Showdown! Up until October 31, we’ll be holding voting a tournament in which our readers will get to decide the best horror game ever. 16 games are in consideration for this honor, with each round containing four different games. On October 31, the winners of these rounds will be entered into a final vote, in which the best horror game will finally be crowned. The votes will be held on Twitter, so give us a follow us if you haven’t already. Round 1 Vote Vote for the best horror game of the following four contenders below: The Contenders P.T. Hideo Kojima’s playable teaser for Silent Hills was bone-chilling, and it’s frankly criminal that his vision for the series was canned by Konami. Taking place in one corridor, P.T. has you pacing its dimly-lit haunted house while trying to evade the … [Read more...] about Horror Game Showdown Round 1
What game are you playing this week? Team GR has been diving through their backlog during a brief moment of respite in the end-of-year deluge of new releases. From The Last of Us‘ multiplayer through to Red Dead Online, we’ve certainly been getting our multiplayer fill, just before the likes of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Death Stranding launch. Let us know what you’ve been playing in the comments section below! Paul Tamburro, executive editor: “I’ve been particularly busy over the past week, so I haven’t had much opportunity to play many games (aside from one I’m reviewing and can’t talk about). In downtime I’ve been sinking a few hours into Rocket League, which is the game I always revert back to these days.” Jason Faulkner, senior editor: “I haven’t been playing a ton this week. I’ve been clearing my plate in preparation for near-future reviews. I did jump … [Read more...] about What Are You Playing? October 9, 2019
We’re back with another episode of GR Radio, the official GameRevolution talk show discussing the biggest topics in the gaming industry. This week, the GR team discusses the surprisingly muted PS5 announcement after Sony officially revealed that the console is launching in late 2020. With Sony revealing that the PlayStation 5’s controller will boast haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, was this under-the-radar reveal underwhelming, or should we be excited by these new details? Elsewhere, Doom Eternal‘s release date was pushed back into March 2020, and the GR team is divided on whether or not this is a good thing for the FPS. Despite it being our game of the show at E3 2019, will it be overshadowed by the numerous big games that are releasing around it, or will this extra development time pay off for the sequel? We also dive into the Destiny 2 Shadowkeep expansion, discuss our reviews of Indivisible and Concrete Genie, and discuss how I … [Read more...] about Was the PS5 announcement exciting or disappointing?
What are you playing this week? Team GR is currently enjoying Mario Kart Tour (despite everyone else seemingly having less than enthusiastic reactions to it), Code Vein, and our features editor Michael Leri is also struggling through The Surge 2. Let us know what games you’ve been playing this week in the comments section! Paul Tamburro, executive editor: “Mario Kart Tour. The microtransactions are terrible, the subscription service is way overpriced… but I’m kind of hooked on it? I’m enjoying playing it in short bursts, and while I can’t imagine myself still enjoying it by the end of the week, I’m still getting more out of it than seemingly all of its other players.” Jason Faulkner, senior editor: “I’m playing Code Vein right now. Been killing anime vampires for around 30 hours now and I have to say I’ve really enjoyed it.” Michael Leri, features editor: “While Jason has … [Read more...] about What Are You Playing? Is there anything more important than your gaming setup? Sure, paying bills is pretty important. As is being financially solvent, and eating well. But that’s all boring adult stuff. Who needs boring adult stuff? We need huge TV screens and desktops with ludicrously expensive RAM shoved into them. We’ve shared our gaming setups below, and now we want to see yours! Feel free to share photos of your setup (or just send through a description) in this week’s Tell GR. “My fiancee would murder me if I stuffed this house with more technology” Paul Tamburro, executive editor: “Considering I spend the majority of my time in my office, I wanted to make sure I enjoy looking at it. I bought the house I currently live in under a year ago, so it’s still a work-in-progress, but I’ve pretty much packed in all the hardware I need (for now). I predominantly play games on my PC (GTX 1080, i7-7700), and recently invested in an LG 34UC99-W 34-inch … [Read more...] about Tel GR
