The United Kingdom has agreed to rule in favor of Nintendo by blocking several websites (and platforms) that allow game piracy on Nintendo Switch. During the hearing, the Japanese company pointed out four such websites that continue to infringe on Nintendo trademarks. The high court of the United Kingdom was also reminded of the absence of any law that defends the modification of Nintendo Switch hardware to enable piracy. In addition, Nintendo noted that several attempts have already been made to hack the current system software, which the company’s engineers have been able to block by closing a loophole used by these websites to install custom hardware on Nintendo Switch. The injunction now requires five major internet service provides of the United Kingdom — Sky, BT, EE, Talktalk, and Virgin Media — to immediately “block, or at least impede access” to the websites put forward by Nintendo. While Nintendo Switch offers a virtual reality solution for the Switch through Labo VR, the cardboard kit feels more like a toy compared to others on the market. Now, it seems that the company is taking a more serious shot at VR for its hybrid game system as Nintendo filed a patent for a proper Switch VR headset. Nintendo actually filed the patent for the Switch VR headset at the Japanese Patent Office back in 2018. However, the patent itself was only recently published a couple of weeks ago on August 22, before Dutch outlet Let’s Go Digital spotted it earlier today. The filing describes a “3D image display system and 3D image display device,” the design of which looks similar to the Labo VR kit, but with some noteworthy differences. Nintendo appears to be making a greater push into virtual reality. An application for what looks to be a Nintendo Switch VR device was spotted today by Dutch gaming website LetsGoDigital. Nintendo applied for the patent in February 2018; however, it was only published August 22 of this year. via LetsGoDigital The Nintendo Switch virtual reality headset – or as it’s described in the application, a “3D image display system and 3D image display device”, looks similar to Nintendo’s Labo VR headset and has no apparent head strap. The headset is instead held by the controller, but unlike the Labo it is made out of plastic material. While no official announcements have been made, the company has been making a big push on Nintendo Switch as of late. Undertale’s popular protagonist Sans is now available as a costume in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. News of Sans coming to the Switch fighting game was revealed last night by Super Smash Bros. Ultimate director Masahiro Sakurai, along with a trailer showing off other new customization options for Mii Fighters and DLC fighters Banjo & Kazooie and Terry Bogard from Fatal Fury. In addition to the costume, Undertale developer Toby Fox has created a new arrangement of the song “Megalovania” which will be made available with the costume for $0.75 USD. Nintendo has revealed surprising new features coming to Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield on Switch. Pokemon Camp functions like a social hub where players can “enjoy a moment of relaxation and fun” in the Wild Area, says developer Game Freak. Here you can set up camping tents, interact with other players, and play games with your Pokemon. If you spot a tent, that’s another player who you can either visit or invite to your own camp. Up to three players can visit at a time. Oh, and, there’s the co-operative curry cooking gameplay. Curry is a popular dish in the Galar region, and you’ll be able to make more than 100 different types based on your chosen ingredients like sausages and, weirdly, berries. The co-operative aspect comes in the form of fanning the flames of the fire cooking your meal. Four players can fan the cooking curry at once, occasionally stirring to keep it from burning.
