This must be 2018, because Call of Duty suddenly feels like Fortnite again. Not the battle royale mode that spawned Blackout and Warzone, but Fortnite: Save the World—the underplayed PvE mode that set four players free in a massive outdoor map to scavenge, muck about, and ultimately fend off waves of marauding undead in defence of an objective. Call of Duty: Cold War's new Outbreak mode takes me right back to those weird months before Fortnite found its final form. It has the same big, purple sky, and what I once fondly referred to as the ‘natter phase’—an early, undirected stage of the match where close coordination simply isn’t necessary. If you've already filed your tax return and have some cash to spend on games and collectibles, GameStop is hosting a big sale next that's worth checking out. GameStop's annual Tax Day sale kicks off on Sunday, February 28 . The first batch of deals will be available all week before the sale refreshes for round two on March 7. GameStop's Tax Day sale features some nice discounts on 2020 hits for PS5/PS4 and Xbox Series X/Xbox One as well as Amiibo and Funko Pop promotions. As always with GameStop sales, some of the game deals are underwhelming, since other retailers such as Amazon and Walmart tend to offer lower prices to begin with. For example, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will be discounted to $50 at GameStop. We can't remember the last time Amazon sold Breath of the Wild for more than $50. February is winding down, so it's almost time for a new batch of Games with Gold freebies for Xbox Live subscribers. Microsoft has unveiled the four free games joining the Games with Gold program in March: Warface: Breakout , VALA: Vicious Attack Llama Apocalypse , Metal Slug 3 , and Port Royale 3 . Like usual, there are a pair of Xbox One games and two older games that are playable via backwards compatibility. Warface: Breakout is a tactical first-person shooter that released last year. It's a spin-off of the MMO Warface based on the Planet the Bomb game mode. The squad-based FPS doesn't have a ton of content yet, but if you're a fan of the genre it may be worth checking out. Warface: Breakout is free all throughout March. The other Xbox One freebie is certainly a silly game, and that's not all too surprising given its name.
