Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice wins big at the 2018 BAFTA Games Awards

Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice was the big winner at tonight's British Academy Games Awards, the UK's annual BAFTA ceremony celebrating outstanding achievement in videogames. Hellblade claimed victory in five categories, including Artistic Achievement, Best Performer, and Best British Game—but the Best Game nod went to What Remains of Edith Finch. Edith Finch beat out Assassin's Creed: Origins, Hellblade, Horizon Zero Dawn, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and Super Mario Odyssey to take the big crown. This is actually the second win for developer Giant Sparrow; its previous game, The Unfinished Swan, won the Best Debut Game award in 2013. Double Fine Entertainment boss Tim Schaer was this year's BAFTA Fellowship winner, awarded "in recognition of an outstanding and exceptional contribution to film, games or television." Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice leads BAFTA Games Awards 2018 nominations

The nominations are in for the 2018 British Academy (BAFTA) Games Awards, and Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice leads the way with nine nominations, including nods in the Best Game, Artistic Achievement, and Game Innovation categories. Horizon Zero Dawn is the second most nominated title with eight nods, including Best Game, Game Design, and Audio Achievement, while What Remains of Edith Finch rounds off the top three with seven nominations.  Both The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Gorogoa have received five nominations apiece, with others like Cuphead, Night in the Woods, and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy each nabbing four.  In total, 45 games have been nominated for this year's awards, which will see the introduction of a new 'Game Beyond Entertainment' category to recognize those titles that deliver "deliver a transformational experience beyond pure entertainment." BAFTA Games Awards 2018 Nominees List Dominated by Hellblade Senua’s Sacrifice

BAFTA has announced the nominations for the BAFTA Games Awards 2018, showcasing a total of 45 different games from last year. Hellblade Senua's Sacrifice leads the pack this year with nominations in a whopping nine different categories. According to the press release, the nine BAFTA Games Awards nominations for Hellblade Senua's Sacrifice include Artistic Achievement, Audio Achievement, Best Game, British Game, Game Beyond Entertainment, Game Innovation, Music, Narrative, and Performer. A challenger comes in the form of Horizon Zero Dawn, with an impressive eight nominations, including Artistic Achievement, Audio Achievement, Best Game, Game Design, Music, Narrative, Original Property, and Performer. What Remains of Edith Finch, PUBG and Cuphead shine in BAFTA Games Awards nominations

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts has announced the nominations for its BAFTA Games Awards 2018.  Across 16 categories, a number of PC games are well represented—not least Giant Sparrow's wonderful What Remains of Edith Finch, which is up for seven awards. PUBG, Cuphead and Night in the Woods get four nods each, while Fortnite, Destiny 2 and Total War: Warhammer 2 pop up in various categories throughout.  Console big hitters Horizon Zero Dawn and Zelda: Breath of the Wild feature heavily too, and it's nice to see the likes of Nier: Automata rubbing shoulders with Super Mario Odyssey, Edith Finch and Assassin's Creed Origins.   Best of luck to them all. Hellblade leads BAFTA game nominations with nine nods

Ninja Theory's self-published gamble, Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice, leads the nominations for the BAFTA video game awards 2018, with nine nods including Best Game. It's been a tremendous success for the British studio, with Hellblade winning both critical acclaim and bringing in more than half-a-million sales. Sony's PlayStation 4 smash hit Horizon: Zero Dawn follows with eight nominations ahead of Eurogamer's number-two game of the year 2018, What Remains of Edith Finch. Our game of the year, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, has five nods, as does wonderful and inspired puzzle game Gorogoa. On the four-nod tier are old Disney-inspired platformer Cuphead, Night in the Woods and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy.
