In WandaVision Episode 7, we learned a shocking (or not-so-shocking, depending on how deeply embroiled in fan theories you've been since the show's premiere) truth about Kathryn Hahn's Agnes. Surprise! She's actually been Agatha Harkness all along, and she even gets her very own theme song to prove it. But, like many things in WandaVision, this reveal only served to raise more questions than it answered--namely: Who the hell is Agatha Harkness and why does she matter in Wanda's story? And naturally, while this is still very much a mystery for the MCU, we can look to Agatha's bizarre comic book history for clues. Agatha Harkness was first introduced in Fantastic Four #94 back in 1970, but before you break out the red string and start connecting dots on your MCU F4 conspiracy walls just yet, know that her role with the first family of Marvel was a little odd. Rather than existing as a villain for anyone in the Richards family, Agatha was a governess--a fancy nanny--to Reed and Sue's … [Read more...] about WandaVision: So Who Is Kathryn Hahn Actually Playing?

I’ve loved cyberpunk since I was old enough to dig through a second-hand bookstore on my own. But I’m tired, and I know I’m not alone. It’s hard to keep waving a flag for a genre that's so often boiled down to a Hot Topic look and recycled stories. Perhaps the final nail in the coffin was the shambling disappointment of Cyberpunk 2077, which CDPR is still determined to keep working on . What many people recognize as cyberpunk today is mostly cosmetic , and reusing that aesthetic again and again is becoming tedious and meaningless. "What bothers me about cyberpunk is that it often gets carried away fetishizing the high-tech world it is ostensibly critiquing," says indie designer Phoebe Shalloway. "It makes tech look sleek, sexy, and cool." Shalloway has a different interest: she makes explicitly solar punk games, which offer a fresh new way to imagine the future. Solarpunk still includes working with technology, but with a positive focus on sustainability, community, and … [Read more...] about Enough cyberpunk—it’s solarpunk’s time to shine

The Boys doesn’t tend to do things by halves – and that’s especially true of the new season. The Boys season 3 , according to actor Laz Alonso (Mother’s Milk), is upping the amount of blood in a big and very literal way. Speaking to Collider about The Boys’ upcoming bloodbath, Alonso said that he’s received a tip from the head makeup artist that the Amazon series is painting the town red – and then some. "She told me that all of season 2... When you talk about bulk, I don't think they used over a gallon of blood in season 2, believe it or not. Season 3, we're already at three and a half gallons of blood," Alonso said. "So that should give you a little indication of where it's going." For a show that can already count ass bombs and bisected whales among its gory ‘accomplishments’, it’s oddly exciting to know that The Boys season 3 will be dropping even more claret onto its cast members. But it’s not just the blood that’ll be pushing the boundaries on Amazon. The … [Read more...] about The Boys actor teases season 3’s carnage: “We’re already at three and a half gallons of blood”
