Positech Games has been unable to promote the Democracy franchise (soon to be expanded with Democracy 4) on Facebook thanks to a block on international political advertising according to a tweet from the company’s founder Cliff “Cliffski” Harris. Democracy 4 was recently announced as the next game in the long-running strategy series where players try to manage a government while avoiding hurting their future election prospects, destroying the country, or getting assassinated. Jeff Sheen from Stargazy Studios will be leading development with Mr. Harris acting as a producer and lending his assistance for design and testing where needed. Positech Games put an end to post-launch development on 2013’s Democracy 3 recently to focus on their next title. With a new game on the way, the company is still running advertising for the franchise but has encountered a particular problem with advertising on Facebook. *sigh* facebook still telling me I … [Read more...] about Democracy Dev’s Facebook Ads Blocked As “Political Ads”
FACEBOOK has been slammed for "censoring" a feminist campaign group after it was accused of "transphobia". Woman's Place UK campaigns for women-only spaces and raises concerns about transgender people being able to self-identify as women. The social network temporarily blocked links to its website over the weekend citing user "safety" as the site was "malicious". "This morning, our supporters are reporting that FB posts which link to our website are being removed," tweeted the group, "the reason give (sic!) is that ‘they may be in breach of community standards’. They are not. We would urge you to visit our website, read the posts and decide for yourself". Its supporters blasted Facebook's clampdown, calling it a "disgrace" and accused the site of "suppressing free speech". "Only fake news and hard brexit is allowed on @facebook. Women's rights are bad, m'kay." tweeted one user. The move coincided with a Twitter post from user @mimmymum, whose profile indicates the account … [Read more...] about Facebook BLOCKS links to women’s rights group after ‘transphobia’ complaints

If you're worried that your info may have been swiped, you can instantly check by heading to the dedicated page on Facebook's help centre. The Sun understands that Facebook's alerts will be rolling out to users gradually. Facebook said most of the affected users are in the US, though there are over a million each in the Philippines, Indonesia and the UK. There are around 40million Facebook users in Britain, so that means you have a roughly 1 in 40 chance of having had your data hoovered up without your knowledge. Facebook's Chief Technology Officer Mike Schroepfer revealed shared the number while discussing the steps the company was taking to restrict the personal data available to third-party app developers. All 2.2 billion Facebook users will receive a notice on their feeds titled "Protecting Your Information". It will have a link to … [Read more...] about How to check if your Facebook data was stolen in the Cambridge Analytica data scandal

This means potentially handing over personal details, and even sensitive documents like your driving licence or passport. The goal is to stop youngsters accessing dodgy x-rated websites. Videos that are already assigned an R18 certificate will be affected by the 'ban.' The law also covers works “produced solely or principally for the purposes of sexual arousal” But those working within the porn industry have called the legislation a “panic law” that won’t protect youngsters.
