Title: A Way Out Platforms: PS4 (tested), Xbox One, PC Release Date: March 23, 2018 Rating: PEGI 18 Multiplayer video games have changed a lot over the medium’s short history. Games such as Pong pitted us against our friends, Super Mario World let us charge through a platforming classic together. Games like Halo ramped things up with 4 player LAN parties, and the massive world of Azeroth in World of Warcraft let us make new friends and tackle quests with complete strangers. Multiplayer games have changed not just technologically, but geographically as well. The industry has seemed to all but scrap the idea of local multiplayer in favour of the online/service games model, at least when it comes to story driven games anyway. So when A Way Out was announced at E3 in 2017 as a local split-screen co-op experience, this gamer was extremely excited to plug in player 2 and go on adventure with a friend. Not a gamertag or some stranger, but a physical person in the same room (how … [Read more...] about GAME REVIEW: A Way Out

Australian game developer Anthony Tan has released the first trailer for his new game Way To The Woods--and it looks beautiful. The story is about two deer--a doe and her fawn--trying to find their way home in a post-human world. To survive and get home, they'll need to find food and shelter, and get answers about some kind of cat god. You'll also bash things with your antlers, of course. What's perhaps most striking about Way To The Woods is its gorgeous art, which was drawn by hand. If you're getting Studio Ghibli vibes, that's no accident. Tan said on the game's website that Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke were major inspirations, along with Naughty Dog's post-apocalyptic game The Last of Us. The music is stirring as well.Way to the Woods, which has been in development for more than two years, is being made using Unreal Engine 4. The art was produced using Photoshop, Maya, and Zbrush. And the music in the trailer, which is haunting and beautiful at the same time, was composed by … [Read more...] about A Gorgeous Game About Two Deer Finding Their Way Home In A Post-Human World With A Cat God
Not all characters in the International Zodiac Job System are equal. Now the PC version is here, let’s revisit their complexities. Final Fantasy 12 is very much all about customization, and any of its cast of six main playable characters can technically fill any of the twelve job roles on offer – where in the context of this game, jobs equal traditional RPG classes slotting into a range of different categories. But as we note above, there’s a small catch: characters in FF12 aren’t all the same when they first join your party, and some characters are more suited for certain classes than others. Compared to some of the other systems in FF12 we’ve already covered on our tips page or how specific the process is to get the best weapon in the game this actually breaks down quite simply, however: there are clear-cut characters who are the best for certain roles, though looking at stats to figure out which should do what is still a little on the tedious side. … [Read more...] about Final Fantasy 12 The Zodiac Age: the best jobs for each character
I've made a huge mistake It seemed like such a good idea at the time. You saw a trailer for the latest gotta-have-it game, or saw some bad-ass box art at the local game store, and you said to yourself I'm going to own this thing, no matter what. So you sell off all your worldly possessions, take your latest acquisition home, fire it up and - wait a minute. This game is garbage. And thanks to most stores' absurdly inflexible return policies, well, you're now out $60 / 45.It sucks when you drop hard-earned cash on a game that ultimately ends up being a complete waste. Even worse is when you shell out hundreds of dollars for the latest hotness only for the price to get sliced to ribbons literally a day after you buy the damn thing. Don't worry, because we've been there too. Each editor has detailed the most regrettable gaming purchase they've ever made. They say money can't buy happiness, but it sure as heck can pick up a family-sized portion of disappointment. Prev Page 1 of 12 Next … [Read more...] about What gaming purchase do you regret the most?
