I am writing a computer game, but I do not know what is missing, because I collect information in Youtube on unfinished courses by the authors. What stages of development I learned from the videos: Prototyping (the Choice of genre, setting, characters, mechanics, concept art, locations of the primitives, etc.) The creation of the game (here my knowledge is incomplete) Testing (Catching bugs, checking the functionality of all functions, etc.)) Release with subsequent maintenance As I understand this process (writing game): Create 3D models (based on concept art, prototypes of locations from primitives) If the model is a character, create an animation. Importing models into Unity Customize materials for models in Unity We arrange ready-made models (prefab's) on the stage. We write scripts for interaction between objects. Write a system to the player's inventory. Write a system to save the game. Huge knowledge gap (what else needs to be done?) Create the main menu. Collect project file … [Read more...] about Stages of creating a computer 3D game on Unity
Importing 3d models into unity
So I've edited up an image to help show the problem, since showing the game itself is not an option: When I imported my model, the model appears normally, however when I actually put it into the scene, a duplicate of the mesh appears, off to the left and partially lower (as shown with the edited image above) and normally I would ignore it, however it's causing some issues with the camera, causing it to rotate outside of the model, and I'm guessing it's because this mesh is the center of the model. I've been using Unity on and off for a few years but in all that time, I've never had this happen. Is it from how the model is imported, or something to do with the model itself? All the models in my game are 100% custom made, there are no assets. I'm really not sure what caused this or how to fix it. edit: The green mesh is not visible when the game runs, you only see it in the editor. … [Read more...] about Unity 3D Model imported with offset Mesh
I just got someone to create a 3d environment for my game in autocad 2015. I exported that environment and imported it into unity but that doesn't work well as I am unable to see my environment in the scene view correctly. Any suggestions on how to do it better? I am not good with 3d modeling and I ever used autocad models in unity before. Any kind of help is highly appreciated. :) … [Read more...] about What is the best way to import autocad models into unity?
Unity 2018.3 introduces improved Prefab workflows, including nesting, as well as enhancements to our Scriptable Render Pipeline, Terrain system and scripting runtime, and a preview of the Visual Effect Graph. Over the years, one of the features we’ve heard you requesting most often has been the ability to nest Prefabs. After conducting numerous interviews, usability tests and research at game jams, however, we found out that a lot of you also needed several other changes to the Prefab workflows. Therefore, we have been improving the whole system with a focus on reusability, control and user-friendliness. The new Prefab workflows allow you to split up scenes and Prefabs on a granular level. They give you greater flexibility, increase your productivity and enable you to work confidently without worrying about making time-consuming errors. Continuing our focus on workflow improvements, Unity 2018.3 now has unified Settings windows for Project Settings and Preferences. The new … [Read more...] about Introducing Unity 2018.3 – Unity Blog
