Chris Metzen is famous for helping to conceive Warcraft, StarCraft, and Diablo. But long before he joined Blizzard, Metzen was a dungeon master. And now the campaigns he used to run for his childhood friends in the '80s are being turned into a codified campaign and fantasy universe based off of Dungeons and Dragons' fifth edition ruleset. It's called Auroboros: Coils of the Serpent, and it's basically an alternative setting to the Forgotten Realms complete with new races, subclasses, and special magic systems. The Kickstarter to fund the first of what will likely be several rulebooks went live today and it's already 500 percent funded . It's easy to understand why. Metzen is a world-building icon known for his storytelling and characters (like Thrall, World of Warcraft's most famous warchief). Auroboros also sounds damn cool. The rulebook being crowdfunded is called Worldbook: Lawbrand, and it contains everything dungeon masters will need to run adventures in the world of … [Read more...] about Warcraft creator Chris Metzen unveils his new tabletop RPG project inspired by his childhood D&D campaigns

Amazon Warns That PS5 Preorders Might Miss Launch Day
It's no secret that securing a preorder for the PlayStation 5 has been tough, especially after retailers began offering them right after Sony's showcase earlier this week. But it seems even if you have managed to lock down an order, you might not get a console on release day. That's the case over at Amazon, which has begun emailing customers about potential delays for PS5 orders that might result in shipping after the November 12 launch. The email cites the incredible demand for the console as the reason for delays and says that updates will be communicated to affected customers. "We're contacting you about your order of PlayStation 5 Console to let you know in advance that you may not receive this item on the day it is released due to high demand. We'll make every effort to get the item to you as soon as possible once released." Numerous GameSpot staff members have received this mail already, so it could be a case of Amazon warning all customers ahead of potential delays. … [Read more...] about Amazon Warns That PS5 Preorders Might Miss Launch Day
Lord Of The Rings Online Hobbit Player Hits Level Cap By Baking Millions of Pies
Reaching the level cap in the long-running MMO The Lord of the Rings Online --not to be confused with the other LOTR MMO that has reportedly been canceled --usually involves killing a fair number of orcs and beasts, but one enterprising player has decided to take a more pacifistic approach by baking his way to the top. As originally reported by MMORPG.com , Cookingwithsim tackled the challenge on the Evernight server, and every day for the past eight months he could be found either baking mountains of pies or foraging for ingredients in which to create more culinary gains. Having fittingly chosen to play as a Hobbit, each pie that Cookingwithsim baked earned him a tiny amount of the 205,829,281 experience points needed to reach level 130. With players usually only earning about 50 experience points per item crafted and the points differing depending on other factors, it's estimated that Cookingwithsim must have created around 4 million pies in total; enough to last a small … [Read more...] about Lord Of The Rings Online Hobbit Player Hits Level Cap By Baking Millions of Pies
