Update: GameStop's stock is on the rise once again. Following the news of CFO Jim Bell's impending departure from the company, the company's stock price remain largely unchanged over the course of today, February 24. However, before market close, it spiked from the mid-$40 range to almost $92--roughly a 100% increase. In after hours trading, that's risen even further, standing at over $118 at the time of this writing. Perhaps coincidentally, other stocks that were targeted by Reddit's WallStreetBets subreddit, such as AMC, have also seen a spike to end the day. Whether that's a coincidence or not, Reddit--the entire site, not just the WSB subreddit--is down. That could be due to a sudden influx in traffic from people seeking out WSB's advice, as there were celebratory messages posted on WSB in reaction to the GameStop share price. at last, Gamestop comes alive! Ryan!!! I guess the CFO was blocking all the good news. — Jim Cramer (@jimcramer) February 24, 2021 Original … [Read more...] about GameStop Stock Spikes Again And Reddit Is Down After GameStop CFO Jim Bell Resigns

The company was unable to sell off any stock when prices peaked due to regulatory concerns, according to sources cited by Reuters . Theoretically, GameStop could have raised much-needed revenue through a stock sale when its stock peaked at over $400 a share, raising revenue towards its $216 million debt and investing in an ecommerce pivot--but it didn't. Sources familiar with the matter said that GameStop explored the possibility of selling off stock during the rally, but ultimately decided not to. The biggest issue was that GameStop was essentially in the middle of a fiscal quarter, and hadn't yet been able to report financial results for that quarter. Thanks to U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission regulations , the company could have found itself in hot water had … [Read more...] about Why GameStop Couldn’t Capitalize On Its Reddit-Fueled Stock Rally

Such was the success of the original Bravely Default that it saw a small number of follow-ups, though this being the convoluted world of JRPG titling it's only now we're getting a Bravely Default 2 - that number denoting a clean break from prior games in the same way that each new Final Fantasy … [Read more...] about Bravely Default 2 review – a heady serving of nostalgia, and a theorycrafter’s dream
