Nintendo does a panning shot better than just about anyone else in the games industry. A lone adventurer standing center frame, their attention locked on a distant horizon as the camera shifts slowly behind them to reveal a lush, sprawling world. It was used to great effect in the debut trailer for Breath of the Wild , as Nintendo unveiled a spellbinding overhaul of The Legend of Zelda. And now, Game Freak has followed suit as it showcases Pokemon Legends: Arceus – a long overdue shake up of the formula that the developer has gradually iterated on for 25 years. As a tool, the execution of these framing shots is so successful because it ignites the imagination. It invites players to dream up new opportunities that they hadn't dared to before, and conjure up experiences that they have only been able to dream of until now. Pokemon Legends: Arceus is a new breed of adventure for Pokemon trainers, and it's been a long time coming. "Pokemon Legends: Arceus represents a new approach for … [Read more...] about Pokemon Legends: Arceus looks to be the open world evolution we’ve always dreamt of

Bungie wants to expand Destiny 2 into ‘additional media’
Destiny 2 studio Bungie is taking some big steps toward the future, including an "extensive expansion" to its headquarters in Bellevue, Washington, the opening of its first-ever international office in Amsterdam, new additions to its board of directors, and—this is the part we really care about—plans to expand Destiny into "additional media." On top of all that, it's also still planning to release at least one new, non-Destiny game sometime within the next four years. "We are home to some of the brightest and best talent in the industry, and we look forward to expanding upon both our talent pool this year and increasing the resources to support them." The expansion of Bungie's home office will more than double its size, which will help it to "increase the commitment to the long-term development of Destiny 2, tell new stories in the Destiny Universe, and create … [Read more...] about Bungie wants to expand Destiny 2 into ‘additional media’

Persona 5 Strikers isn't your typical musou action game. There are familiar elements like tearing down mobs of enemies in wild "one-versus-100" style combat. Rumors were swirling that The Pokemon Company would unveil remakes of Pokemon Diamond and Pearl as part of its Pokemon 25th anniversary celebration--and sure enough, we got our first look at Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl during the February 2021 Pokemon Presents stream. That the remakes are indeed coming is not in itself surprising; The Pokemon Company has been steadily remaking older entries in the series, and Diamond and Pearl were the next in line to be modernized. The Pokemon Company stressed that Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are "faithful" remakes, and they certainly look as much. The games deliberately invoke the aesthetic of the original DS titles. Not only do they retain the classic top-down perspective, but characters and other overworld elements also have the same squat proportions as they do in the originals, which makes Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl … [Read more...] about Pokemon Brilliant Diamond And Shining Pearl Are Very Different Kinds Of Pokemon Remakes
