One of the biggest surprises in the Disney+ Marvel show WandaVision was the appearance of Evan Peters as Wanda's brother Pietro. Showrunner Jac Schaeffer has spoken more about this, and revealed there was no back-up plan if Peters couldn't do it. Peters played Pietro--aka Quicksilver--in the X-Men films, with Aaron Taylor-Johnson appearing as Pietro in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While the movie rights to the X-Men are now owned by Disney, the two superhero universes are yet to cross. The final episode of WandaVision reveals that it's not Pietro at all, but an ordinary man named Ralph Bohner that Wanda has "recast" as her dead brother, making Peters' appearance little more than an in-joke. Nevertheless, Schaeffer states that she was only given permission to use Peters at the last minute. "[Using Peters] was an enormous question mark for a very long time," she told the New York Times . "And it took a while to figure out if it would be possible. It was late that it was finally … [Read more...] about WandaVision Showrunner Says There Was “No Plan B” For Pietro Casting

Rust Is Coming To PS4 And Xbox One This Spring
Rust has been having a breakout moment recently, finding popularity with Twitch streamers who were looking for a different spin on the survival game formula. The game is going to reach an even bigger audience when Rust launches on both Xbox One and PS4 very soon, with a release being announced for Spring 2021 on both platforms. A more specific release date has not yet been shared. While that launch will span both last-gen PlayStation and Xbox platforms, there's no word on a native current-gen release. Hereditary And Midsommar Director’s Next Film Will Be A Very Lengthy, Weird Comedy
Ari Aster has emerged as an exciting horror director with his debut film Hereditary and its follow-up Midsommar , both of which were intense and disturbing. Now, in an interview with the Associated Students Program Board of the University of California, Santa Barbara, Aster has opened up about what he's working on next. Aster, who calls himself a "genre filmmaker" rather than a horror filmmaker, says that his next film will be a "nightmare comedy". While there were certainly elements of comedy to his earlier films, this makes it sound like his third film will skew funnier than Midsommar's moments of levity. Aster has just finished a new draft of the film, and has revealed a few thin details about the length and content--and he's planning for it to be long. "All I know is that it’s gonna be four hours long, over 17," he said, referring to the likely age rating the film will receive. He also notes that his production company Square Peg is creating a remake of the 2003 Korean … [Read more...] about Hereditary And Midsommar Director’s Next Film Will Be A Very Lengthy, Weird Comedy
Music Week: A Hero’s Journey
Next up in Music Week we're bringing you this lovely piece from 2011, all about the various leitmotifs that pull together a true gaming great. London, October 2011. Thousands are crowded into the Hammersmith Apollo, one of the city's most famous theatrical venues, to hear a concert of music commemorating the 25th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda. It's an emotional night. Host Zelda Williams recalls how much the series she was named after meant to her growing up, and her voice audibly cracks at the memory. As Koji Kondo plays a delicate piano solo of Grandma's Theme from The Wind Waker, grown men can be seen dabbing their eyes. Kondo rises from his seat and the audience stands, too, applauding wildly, a number of them clad in the familiar green tunic, tights and pointed hat of their hero. How did this simple fairytale fantasy inspire such passion, such devotion? Kyoto, 1986. Buoyed by the success of Super Mario Bros. a year earlier, game designers Shigeru Miyamoto and Takashi … [Read more...] about Music Week: A Hero’s Journey
