By JK Schmidt - April 3, 2018 04:30 pm EDT Share 1 Comments 1 While fans were introduced to the affable pairing of Rey and Finn in the new Star Wars trilogy, the protagonists were split up for the latest film in the saga. But it sounds like the two will be sticking together for the next installment in the franchise, as actor John Boyega teased the events of Star Wars: Episode IX during a panel at Awesome Con in Washington D.C. Boyega stressed he doesn't know the plot of the new movie, but revealed that he received the inside scoop from co-star Daisy Ridley. "I haven’t read the script for Episode IX. But Daisy did shoot me a text saying, 'Oh my gosh, I just heard from J.J. [Abrams], and we’re back together.' That’s what I’m really excited about, is Finn and Rey back together again," said Boyega, as reported by /Film. This should be a relief for fans who grew accustomed to that pairing in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. ‘Star Wars: Episode IX’ Reportedly Casting for New Female Lead Character
By JK Schmidt - May 1, 2018 03:05 pm EDT Share 1 Comments 1 Expect to see some new faces when we return to the galaxy far, far away, as the struggle between the First Order and the Resistance will receive some new players. A new casting notice for Star Wars: Episode IX points at a new character named "Caro," and apparently casting director Nina Gold is looking for a young woman to play the role, according to a report from That Hashtag Show. The casting notice describes Caro as "captivating naturalness and ease to her manner," and calls her a"leader and problem solver, smart with a great sense of humor and a strong will. All this comes to her effortlessly." It sounds like Rey and Finn will get another ally on the Light side, though it remains to be seen just how this character will figure into J.J. Abrams' film. After the events of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the Resistance forces have been drastically reduced. Most of their leadership and reinforcements have been … [Read more...] about ‘Star Wars: Episode IX’ Reportedly Casting for New Female Lead Character
‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ Novel Opens With a Line About Luke Skywalker’s Wife
By Jamie Lovett - February 26, 2018 06:36 pm EST Share 4 Comments 4 While Luke Skywalker may have given up on the Jedi Order, it looks like he may have at least found love in his lifetime. The expanded edition of the novelization of Star Wars: The Last Jedi releases next week, but the novel’s first line has already appeared online. It's a line that offers a new revelation of Luke Skywalker’s life after Return of the Jedi. The line reads: “Luke Skywalker stood in the cooling sand of Tatooine, his wife by his side.” First sentence of the TLJ novel. from r/StarWarsLeaks His wife? Nothing in Star Wars: The Last Jedi indicated that Luke was ever married. Does the novel reveal something that the film left out? It's a little hard to say. Author Jason Fry worked with writer/director Rian Johnson to include scenes from alternate versions of the film’s script. If this prologue is based on a previous version of The Last Jedi’s … [Read more...] about ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ Novel Opens With a Line About Luke Skywalker’s Wife
Star Wars: Mark Hamill “Surprised” By People Upset With Snoke’s ‘The Last Jedi’ Fate
By Patrick Cavanaugh - April 13, 2018 09:36 pm EDT Share 3 Comments 3 Many fans loved writer/director Rian Johnson's approach to the Star Wars saga with The Last Jedi, though that hasn't stopped a vocal minority from angrily criticizing it for the last few months for a variety of reasons. One point that some fans seem to harp on is Supreme Leader Snoke's death at the hands of Kylo Ren, as they had spent the past two years trying to conjure up a backstory for the character that Johnson proved was ultimately a waste of time. Even star Mark Hamill doesn't understand why fans are upset, as he knew the "Supreme Leader" was irrelevant in the story the saga was telling. “I relate to the fans because I’m a fan myself," Hamill shared with Games Radar. "I understand that they have a deep investment, a sense of ownership, because I do too and the problem is, you just can’t please everyone… I was surprised everyone was so upset that they got rid of … [Read more...] about Star Wars: Mark Hamill “Surprised” By People Upset With Snoke’s ‘The Last Jedi’ Fate

By JK Schmidt - April 23, 2018 07:40 pm EDT Share 3 Comments 3 The latest film in the Skywalker Saga proved divisive among the Star Wars community, but some new developments for the next installment might prove promising for Extended Universe fans. A new casting report found by That Hashtag Show indicates Star Wars: Episode IX is casting "a female lead, 40-50 years old, to play the role of 'MARA.'" Now, that should ring some alarms for a number of reasons. While we can't confirm this rumor, That Hashtag Show has had a decent track record with casting call information. Their report states Nina Gold, casting director for The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi, is involved yet again for the new movie. If you're wondering why this is a big deal, you might have forgotten (or aren't familiar with) the character … [Read more...] about ‘Star Wars: Episode IX’ Casting Rumor Teases the Movie Debut of Popular EU Character
