By Nick Valdez - November 19, 2019 10:35 pm EST Share 0 Comments 0 Koei Tecmo will finally be giving Hiro Mashima's Fairy Tail franchise the console game treatment with a new release on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch sometime next year, and there's quite a lot of fan anticipation building up for its eventual release. But if there's any company that knows about adapting anime into video game titles, it's Koei Tecmo and they have stored up all kinds of knowledge across their staff and production teams as to what really makes an anime game click. This must be especially important for a massive franchise like this one. Speaking with ComicBook.com, Koei Tecmo producer Keisuke Kikuchi discussed what the team at Koei Tecmo has learned from past anime video game releases and what they will be bringing to the new Fairy Tail game as a result. As Kikuchi explained, the many examples of anime video game adaptations they had on their hands helped to ease producing this … [Read more...] about Fairy Tail Game Producer Discusses Lessons Learned From Past Anime Games

By Patrick Cavanaugh - May 14, 2019 11:38 pm EDT Share 0 Comments 0 The future of the Star Wars franchise has undergone a lot of changes in the past year, with the prevailing mandate from Lucasfilm being the focus on quality of quantity. Before Star Wars: The Last Jedi landed in theaters, the studio confirmed that their partnership with writer/director Rian Johnson was so positive that he would be developing his own trilogy of films. After that film landed in theaters, the studio confirmed that Game of Thrones co-creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss would also be developing a series of films. Given that three films have been given release dates and with Lucasfilm being coy about what details they release to the public, we can't help but wonder if, rather than develop six films at once, Johnson, Benioff, and Weiss will collaborate on one trilogy which will kick off in 2022. When Lucasfilm announced Johnson's new trilogy in November of 2017, they noted, "Johnson … [Read more...] about Star Wars: Will Rian Johnson and the Game of Thrones Co-Creators All Work Together to Make a New Trilogy?
Mario Kart Tour has been a huge success for Nintendo's mobile division, and has enjoyed the best launch of any of their games designed for phones, despite being criticized for aggressive monetization systems. The game's simple touch controls have displeased some fans, as the game has not, up until this point, let you switch between standard steering and drifting in the middle of a race - you can only have one or the other, chosen before the race starts. Traditionally, success in Mario Kart has depended on perfectly timed drifts, but Tour's all-or-nothing approach has made for a less satisfying experience. The latest update to #MarioKartTour added a button that allows you to drift or steer. It's been a week since Mario Kart Tour rolled out on iOS and Android devices, and despite some egregious microtransactions, it's already proving to be a big hit for Nintendo. The game amassed a record-breaking 10.1 million downloads on launch day, and now that number has climbed to 90 million, mobile analytics tracker Sensor Tower reports.According to Sensor Tower, that makes Mario Kart Tour Nintendo's fastest mobile game launch to date. By comparison, the previous game to hold that distinction, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, hit 14 million downloads in its first week, while Super Mario Run garnered 13 million (although unlike the other two titles, players had to spend $10 to unlock everything beyond Super Mario Run's first three levels).#MarioKartTour Speeds to 90 Million Downloads in First Week to Become #Nintendo's Fastest-Ever Mobile Game Launch: https://t.co/uYbJXIYPzp #mariokart pic.twitter.com/V3MCKvZTv8 — Sensor Tower (@SensorTower) October 2, 2019Sensor Tower shares some … [Read more...] about Mario Kart Tour Becomes Nintendo’s Biggest Mobile Launch Yet
