Hideo Kojima's farewell to Metal Gear Solid is a dream: the best ever stealth game, and the high point of a remarkable series. Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain is a dream game. It's the kind of game that, in 1987, the young designer of the 8-bit Metal Gear may have dreamed would one day be possible. It's the kind of game that players like me dream of: an enormous and deep and seemingly endless experience that's worth the investment and then some. It's the kind of game where every hand-polished element slots together into a head-spinningly ambitious structure and they combine into something you can only call visionary.Metal Gear Solid 5 transplants the stealth core of the series from linear environments into large open worlds, banking everything on great enemy AI and numerous moving parts that allow players freedom of approach in any given situation. The idea is not a completely new one to Metal Gear Solid. Since Metal Gear Solid 3, Kojima Productions has been … [Read more...] about Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain review

You play an archaeologist investigating the remains of an ancient civilisation in an otherworldly “Nebula”. Ingold examines a … [Read more...] about Learning the ancient language of Heaven’s Vault

It's well worth a read in full, but if losing Princess Leia has brought you down, maybe it'll help to hear that being her friend was something Hamill considered "an honor.""The first time I met Carrie was at dinner in London before we started filming together. … You know, she was 19 years old at the time. I was a worldly 24. So I was thinking, 'Oh my God, it’ll be like working with a high school kid.' But I was just bowled over. I mean she was just so instantly ingratiating and funny and outspoken. She had a way of just being so brutally candid. I’d just met her but it was like talking to a person you’d known for 10 years.""She was telling me stuff about her stepfather, about her … [Read more...] about Mark Hamill remembers meeting Carrie Fisher for the first time (and wearing her clothes)
