Xbox Game Pass Adding More Xbox One, PC Games For February, Including Dirt 5

Microsoft has announced a new selection of games for Xbox Game Pass in February. This month's slate includes the sequel to an old-school RPG favorite, dangerous driving, and outer space action. Dirt 5 is one of the big highlights for the month, as the Codemasters-developed title arrived just in time for the launch of the Xbox Series X/S consoles in November last year. Later on in the month, PC players can try out the anime Dark Souls action of Code Vein , and then prepare for the massively multiplayer space epic Elite Dangerous . If you'd prefer to mix time manipulation with bullets then Superhot: Mind Control Delete will be available on PC, bringing its signature action with it. Capcom's popular Monster Hunter World is also available right now through cloud gaming and will be joined by strategic team platformer Killer Queen Black later this month, which is will also be on console. If you fancy slamming frames of steel into each other, Wreckfest will also be … [Read more...] about Xbox Game Pass Adding More Xbox One, PC Games For February, Including Dirt 5

Hearthstone’s Big Dragon Revamp Makes Them Big, Marvelous Cards Again

Hearthstone 's next expansion, Forged in the Barrens , mostly represents what fans have come to expect from the game's thrice-yearly expansions: more than 100 new cards, new keywords, and a meta shakeup. But this one is coming alongside a much bigger change, thanks to the advent of the Core Set . The Basic and Classic sets are being retired, making way for a new curated set of cards that will serve as the foundation for Hearthstone. And in this new Core Set, the six legendary dragons--Alexstraza, Deathwing, Malygos, Nozdormu, Onyxia, and Ysera--are being revamped for a new era. Some, like Onyxia, are remaining essentially intact with a welcome upgrade. Others, like Malygos, are being rethought entirely. I spoke with Hearthstone senior game designer Alec Dawson and VFX artist Dominic Camuglia about how they reimagined these iconic cards. The Core Set may be the biggest foundational change to Hearthstone that we've seen in its history. As a starting point, did you want to … [Read more...] about Hearthstone’s Big Dragon Revamp Makes Them Big, Marvelous Cards Again

The Witcher Season 2 Recasts Eskel

The second season of Netflix's The Witcher has undergone a shakeup of sorts, as actor Thue Rasmussen had to drop out of the sophomore season due to a scheduling conflict , and now we know who his replacement is. Deadline reports that Victoria actor Basil Eidenbenz has come aboard to play Eskel in Season 2. Eidenbenz has been filming scenes for Season 2 since the production resumed again in August. Eskel, a new character for Season 2, is a Witcher from the school of the wolf. The Witcher was one of the first major productions to be suspended in the UK due to COVID-19, after actor Kristofer Hivju tested positive for coronavirus. While The Witcher Season 2 doesn't have a confirmed release date, showrunner Lauren Hissrich previously stated that it would appear sometime in 2021 . Hissrich has also suggested that the story of The Witcher Season 2 will be easier to follow than that of Season 1, which was spread over different timelines . "The story will be much more linear, … [Read more...] about The Witcher Season 2 Recasts Eskel

Crapshoot: The Quest for Glory fan-game so controversial it’s banned from forums

From 2010 to 2014 Richard Cobbett wrote Crapshoot, a column about rolling the dice to bring random obscure games back into the light. This week... with fans like these, who needs enemies? Quest for Glory is one of my favourite series of all time, a mix of classic adventure and RPG in a world full of dreadful puns, hidden secrets, and gorgeous scenery that stretched from the first game's European forests to the bleak horrors of Transylvanian Mordavia. Quest for Glory 4 in particular is a masterpiece; a game that not only assumes you have the intelligence to simply roll with its Slavic setting and rogues, but which which features one of my favourite villains/not quite villains of all time. The whole series is available on GOG and Steam , and I urge you to check it out with much haste. And then... and then there's Quest for Glory 4 1/2: So You Thought You Were A Hero,  a fan-made interquel that returns to the first game to see what happened after you left. It's long. It's … [Read more...] about Crapshoot: The Quest for Glory fan-game so controversial it’s banned from forums
