After two weeks on the Technical Test Server, Rainbow Six Siege Operation Burnt Horizon is officially releasing Wednesday March 6. As always, new operators Mozzie and Gridlock will only be available to Year 4 pass holders for the first week. Outback, Siege’s excellent new map, will be available to all.Ubisoft aggregated the weeks of testing in an addendum to the original Burnt Horizon patch notes.DokkaebiAuto-hang up timer of Dokkaebi calls reduced to 12 seconds (down from 18).Ubi is intensifying the original nerf introduced to the Logic Bomb at the beginning of the test server. In my experience, 18 seconds was still long enough that I always felt the need to stop and hang up the call myself. Bumping it down to 12 sounds like a good middle ground where you can easily let it ring without much annoyance.CapitãoBack to Wind Bastion version.Ubi is completely reversing the changes to Capitão’s fire bolts. Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege is a tactical shooter that is, for the most part, grounded in realism. But a forthcoming event, titled Outbreak, will apparently give the latest Rainbow Six some sci-fi flavor in the form of ... aliens? Ubisoft has been teasing out details about Rainbow Six Siege’s third year of content, which includes Operation Chimera, with two new operators who specialize in biological and chemical attacks, and the upcoming Outbreak event. Ubisoft’s early promotion for Outbreak seemed to indicate that the Rainbow Six team might be facing a zombie-like threat, but a new teaser trailer now makes it look like the game’s counter-terrorist operatives will face a threat from outer space. You can watch that teaser above, but it appears the residents of a small, real-world town in New Mexico have recovered a Russian spacecraft, leading to an outbreak of an extraterrestrial nature. “[An] infestation of unknown origin is attacking the small town of … [Read more...] about Rainbow Six Siege is getting … aliens?
The Rainbow Six Siege patch 4.2, also known as the Operation White Noise Mid-Season Reinforcements, is now live on the technical test server. The update nerfs Ela, with reductions to her SMG magazine size from 50 rounds to 40 and also to the effects of her concussive mines, which will still reduce the movement speed of enemies caught in their impact zone but will no longer disable sprinting. "Ela overpowers her competition. Players select her almost every round, and for a good reason. All of the data we have on her (such as win ratio, K/D ratio, and Kills per round) shows that she needs to be nerfed. We have found this to be primarily because of her SMG and to a lesser extent her concussion mines," Ubisoft wrote in the patch notes. The SMG was nerfed slightly in a previous update, but it wasn't enough to achieve the desired effect. "For now, we’re trying to balance her while keeping her SMG’s uniqueness, which lets her fight several opponents at a time better … [Read more...] about Ela nerfed again in the Rainbow Six Siege ‘Mid-Season Reinforcements’ update
Rainbow Six Siege developer Ubisoft has kicked off this year’s balance updates with the Operation White Noise mid-season patch. The update goes live today on Rainbow Six Siege’s test servers, bringing a host of balance changes and bug fixes, as is typical with mid-season patches. Some of these, like the Ela nerf, were communicated ahead of time. Ubisoft did not set a date for when patch 4.2 will hit live servers just yet. Starting off with Ela, her SMG’s magazine size has been lowered from 50 to 40 bullets. This was done partially to make her less desirable as a pick, since she’s very popular right now which is affecting the metagame. Ela is also getting another nerf, but that’s because concussion effects are getting reduced across the board. Both Ela, and Zofia will be affected by this. Concussion will no longer disable sprinting, but will still to cut movement and camera rotation speed. Concussed players will be able to recover in four seconds instead of … [Read more...] about Rainbow Six Siege Operation White Noise mid-season patch nerfs Ela, Ash, concussion effects
