But even though Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 integrated a battle royale mode instead of a story-based single-player campaign, it is still full of some new and interesting characters with mysterious backgrounds and motivations. However, Blackout also has many playable characters from previous Black Ops installments who can only be unlocked by completing their corresponding challenges. While Shadowman is the only character in Blackout’s Zombies character list to only be available through purchase of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4‘s season pass, the other eight can be unlocked by completing the corresponding characters’ in-game challenges. Even though Treyarch received some backlash for integrating a battle royale mode instead of a traditional single-player campaign in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, the developers out of Santa Monica have received a lot of praise since the launch of Black Ops 4. Being responsible for much of Black Ops 4‘s success, Blackout is being revered by both new Call of Duty fans and returning hardcore fans, and the latter can attribute much to the mode’s nostalgic focus on the map and characters. As far as nostalgia goes, Blackout does not lack in content. Blackout’s map is basically a giant compilation of many fan favorite maps from previous Black Ops games, and many of its playable characters originated from earlier games in the series as well. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is finally, officially here and it’s packed with new features, including a battle royale mode and a new Zombies storyline. If you haven’t picked up the latest in the massive Call of Duty franchise, figuring out which edition to buy is the first step. Just about every AAA game launches with multiple editions packing on more than just the basic game. Figuring out which one to buy can be a frustrating and confusing experience. Most of it comes down to personal preference and gaming style — you probably already know if you want a physical or digital copy — but the addition of exclusive skins, season passes and bonus currency makes it trickier. The Call of Duty Black Ops 4 Battle Royale mode has been revealed, with Call of Duty Blackout. The Black Ops 4 Battle Royale mode has been confirmed to be included with the game at launch on October 12 and will essentially replace the game's single-player campaign component, which is absent from this year's release. Whether you think they're hopping on the Fortnite bandwagon or not, it's a huge deal to have the first AAA bolt-on battle royale mode. When Ubisoft Toronto was approached by Ubisoft Montreal to collaborate on Far Cry 4, both studios knew they needed to bring the mythical place of Shangri-La to life in a way that felt unique and consistent with the world of Far Cry.
