The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is an unusual sort of videogame. We described the lead character, Gollum, as "clammy" last year, and that's probably the nicest possible way to put it. His portrayal in the game won't be a spot-on recreation of the Peter Jackson film creation, but it's not all that terribly different either, and his physical characteristics are only part of the whole repugnant package anyway. Avengers' biggest trouble up to now has been instability resulting in crashes. During my time reviewing the game on PC, I found crashing to be a major issue in the days after the game's full launch. PC players in particular have been complaining about that issue, but it's affected the console versions of the game as well. Crystal Dynamics mentions dealing with PC crashes in Update 1.3.0's notes; Nvidia also has released new graphics card drivers that should hopefully help the issue. It's a fascinating extension of a Mario game that seemed to run counter to the principles of the likes of 64 and Odyssey - 3D World was always positioned as a way to bridge the gap between 2D Mario and its more open-ended strand, so there's something slightly awkward in a Mario with a restricted moveset being pushed towards a very different style of play (and something slightly disappointing in how it only manages 30fps when playing in handheld - a tribute to Sunshine too far, I feel, though it's understandable given the scale of Bowser's Fury). … [Read more...] about Bowser’s Fury is possibly the strangest Super Mario game since Sunshine
