Before Star Wars: The Last Jedi landed in theaters, the studio confirmed that their partnership with writer/director Rian Johnson was so positive that he would be developing his own trilogy of films. After that film landed in theaters, the studio confirmed that Game of Thrones co-creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss would also be developing a series of films. Given that three films have been given release dates and with Lucasfilm being coy about what details they release to the public, we can't help but wonder if, rather than develop six films at once, Johnson, Benioff, and Weiss will collaborate on one trilogy which will kick off in 2022. The upcoming film is set to be the conclusion of the Skywalker Saga, leading fans to wonder what could be the next film to move forward into production. Various reports have swirled about why Lucasfilm has yet to announce any release dates for upcoming productions, with a new report noting that it isn't necessarily a move of deception, but that production can't begin on new projects until construction on a new studio is completed to make the movies. Apex Legends developer Respawn's new Star Wars game, Jedi Fallen Order, is upon us now and pretty great. The period just before the release of a major title like this can be when developers push extra hard in what is known as a "crunch" period, which can last for weeks or even months, if not longer. During a crunch period, development team will be subjected to uncomfortable, often unsafe workplace conditions as folks are pushed hard to get the game finished.The game's director, Stig Asmussen, has now shared his perspective on the practice of crunch and how the Jedi Fallen Order team worked to try to make sure its developers did not burn out while working on the major Star Wars title. However, while there aren't any marquee releases this week, there are quality games coming to PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch this week, including a long-awaited title from Sega, a Jose Mourinho simulator, some promising indies, and an official Narcos game.
