It’s no secret that I like pretty fighting games like The King Of Fighters XIII. While I’ve never been as into SNK’s style of fighting as I have Capcom’s Street Fighter, the genre’s shift away from hand-drawn sprites to 3D models has never appealed to me. It made Ken’s hair look like a bunch of bananas, and that’s a cardinal sin. It’s sad, then, that KoF XIII was the last sprite-based game before SNK followed with its own crude 3D models. … [Read more...] about Have You Played… The King Of Fighters XIII?

The Dusk SDK allows for the usual texture replacement and custom sound mods, which predictably results in a lot of stuff like, for instance, "Tim Allen Textures" or a Winnie the Pooh replacement for Leatherneck. But it's the ability to run external maps that I get a real kick out of. It takes a little effort—you'll have to extract the maps from Quake, copy the Quake palette.imp file to the proper location, and do some other stuff that you can read about here—but the net result is, quite literally, Quake in Dusk, albeit a Quake populated with new, thematically-mismatched enemies. … [Read more...] about You can now play Quake and Half-Life maps in Dusk
The Scribes – Pyre The land you roam in this mythical netball ‘em up is called the Downside, and it is prison, purgatory and banishment all rolled together in one handy landscape. You get exiled here by the theolords of the upper kingdom when you’ve done something naughty, such as read a book. It’s dreadful. Everyone up there is foaming at the mouth with praise for eight ancient “scribes” – essentially gods – so much that they’ve banned reading. But as you and your RPG pals stumble through the world of exiles, flipping through an old book between games of a weird traditional undersport, it starts to seem likely those old gods were just chumps like yourselves, their stories twisted and mythologised thanks to eons of oral storytelling. Could organised religion be the centuries-spanning product of incremental misinterpretations over the life of long-dead rebels? Nah, let’s not think about that. Let’s just play netball. … [Read more...] about The 9 dodgiest religions in games
Fans have already seen that Jason Lee's Brodie wears a Stan Lee t-shirt and has a Stan Lee memorial set up in his comic book shop, Brodie's Secret Stash. That much has appeared online and in trailers already. But Lee does appear in the film, in a speaking role -- kind of. The non-spoiler version is that an interview he did with Smith on the IMDboat at Comic Con was partially reused during the film's credits sequence, behind a title card that read "in memory of our marvelous mentor." In the clip, he told Lee that he would be a significant part of Reboot, and during a recent interview, he told ComicBook.com what those plans originally were. … [Read more...] about Kevin Smith Explains Stan Lee’s Original Role in Jay & Silent Bob Reboot
0comments"But the audience is so powerful and so devoted to it, that I’m convinced that at the very least, it will be rebooted, which I will be fine with," continued Astin. "If it’s not as good as the original Goonies, that’s fine, who cares? I think Spielberg has been waiting for whatever that magical, mystical secret sauce is and he hasn’t found it yet so he just hasn’t pulled the trigger yet. He’s so busy so I don’t even know if he could do it himself and you know, Dick Donner wants it." … [Read more...] about The Goonies BTS Video Shows Initial Makeup Test for Sloth
