The upcoming Mortal Kombat movie was inspired in part by another gigantic Warner Bros. property, The Lord of the Rings. Producer Todd Garner said in an interview that the filmmakers on Mortal Kombat turned to The Lord of the Rings early on in the process of mapping out Mortal Kombat. Just like Lord of the Rings has numerous characters with their own interconnecting stories, so does Mortal Kombat. "When we really researched all of the lore and fantasy and rules and mythology to Mortal Kombat, we really looked at it like Lord of the Rings," Garner said, as reported by GamesRadar. He added: "[Creators] John [Tobias] and Ed [Boon] have created this tone that's so thick and complex and amazing in terms of all the crazy, different characters--you have ninjas, and you have soldiers of fortune, and you've got clones and aliens and ex-police officers. The director of Godzilla vs. Kong has revealed that Mechagodzilla was inspired by the classic Transformers cartoon series. In an interview with Inverse , Adam Wingard recently shared just how his Mechagodzilla was influenced by the original robots in disguise. "I just always loved the simplicity of the [classic] ‘Transformers’ designs," Wingard said. "So I tried to create a look to the character that was punchy and just had a bit more simplicity. There’s an immediacy to his shape and outline." He still holds the 1986 animated movie in high regard. "The ‘Transformers’ animated movie from the ’80s with Orson Welles was one of the best movie experiences for me as a kid growing up," Wingard added. "Period." It’s difficult to mention Transformers in the present day without thinking of the Michael Bay movie series. Project 007 will draw from the James Bond franchise's entire history, but its developers say it'll be an entirely original story. Speaking with IGN , Hakan Abrak, CEO and co-owner of developer IO Interactive said that "there's always excitement around a new Bond. It's amazing, what they have done with the franchise over the years. Every Bond kind of defines a generation and it's amazing how they keep reinventing themselves over so many years. So, we're not only inspired by one movie, or games and whatnot. We're inspired by the whole thing, and just sucking things into us to make an original Bond, an original story, but that is absolutely true and recognizable in the values there is in Bond."
