Five new Steam games you probably missed (March 1, 2021)

On an average day, about a dozen new games are released on Steam. And while we think that's a good thing, it can be understandably hard to keep up with. Potentially exciting gems are sure to be lost in the deluge of new things to play unless you sort through every single game that is released on Steam. So that’s exactly what we’ve done. If nothing catches your fancy this week, we've gathered the best PC games you can play right now and a running list of the 2021 games that are launching this year. Rhythm Doctor Steam‌ ‌page ‌ ‌ Rhythm Doctor generated a fair bit of interest back in 2019, and it was demoed as far back as 2014. It's a one button rhythm game starring a doctor (hence the name I'm guessing) who defibrillate hearts in concert with their beats. Seems pretty simple, except each patient is stricken with a unique illness that will confuse things a bit: some suffer a bad case of the polyrhythms, while others come with hectic unconventional time signatures. … [Read more...] about Five new Steam games you probably missed (March 1, 2021)

Apex Legends hits an all-new concurrent user peak on Steam

Apex Legends has hit an all-new concurrent user peak on Steam. The free-to-play battle royale game - which released on Steam in November 2020 after almost 18-months as an EA Origin exclusive - hit 198,235 simultaneous players on Steam yesterday, its highest ever concurrent user peak according to SteamDB (thanks, Dexerto ). The recent surge in new and returning players checking out Season 8 means Apex Legends is currently the fifth most-played game on Steam right now, making it more popular than GTA 5, Rainbow Six Siege, and Team Fortress 2. It's also in the top ten of most-watched games on Twitch , too, which means more people are tuning in to watch Apex Legends than FIFA 21, CS:GO, and Valheim. Main Caustic in Apex Legends? I have bad news - developer Respawn recently said the popular Legend will be "getting some attention in the near future" . For some time, Caustic was one of those Legends on the roster that players rarely spent much quality time with, but after … [Read more...] about Apex Legends hits an all-new concurrent user peak on Steam

Valorant Agent Astra Comes To Game Alongside Battle Pass On March 2

Riot Games has revealed a new agent for Valorant, Astra, who will be able to cause chaos with astronomy-themed attacks and a powerful Gravity Well ability. The agent, originally from Ghana, acts as a controller in matches and should help to keep the other team from making coordinated strikes. She'll be live in the game on March 2. One of the most unique aspects of Astra is her ability to soar above the map in order to get a better perspective, though you'll be leaving her actual, physical body at risk of being attacked while you do so. Using her Astral Form, she's able to place down stars that can then be turned into a Nebula, powerful Nova Pulse, or a Gravity Well that traps and damages those caught inside. A new battle pass is also on the way, giving you more cosmetic unlockables for Valorant's characters. It costs 1,000 VP, with the paid track giving you a Prism III Axe melee, Cavalier Vandal, Cavalier Operator, Make Some Noise spray, and Versus // Sova + Cypher card. A few … [Read more...] about Valorant Agent Astra Comes To Game Alongside Battle Pass On March 2

Doom Eternal generated £323m in just nine months

Doom Eternal reportedly generated over £323 million ($450m) in the first nine months of its release. Bethesda had already trumpeted that the launch of Doom Eternal was the series' best-ever in terms of opening week sales, but at the time the publisher didn't give exact figures, instead only confirming the game had doubled the launch weekend revenue of Doom's 2016 reboot. Now, however, a statement on a former id Software developer's LinkedIn profile has revealed those numbers translated to $450 million in revenue (thanks, ResetEra ) - that's £323 million. The LinkedIn profile is seemingly now no longer publicly accessible, but the former "monetization designer" and product management lead worked at id Software for three years before leaving the studio last year. Edwin deemed the game "an even faster and bloodier but slightly wayward follow-up to a thunderous shooter reboot" in Eurogamer's Doom Eternal review . … [Read more...] about Doom Eternal generated £323m in just nine months
